Why Choose Our Ear Candles?

Top 3 Reasons:
  1. 100% Beeswax (vs paraffin wax).  It is very important to choose only ear candles made of 100% beeswax!  Many cheap ear candles in the market are made of paraffin wax, which is actually petroleum derived by-product used for electrical insulation, lubrication and normal candles.  Paraffin wax produces toxic fumes when burnt.  This is the reason why many ear candles produce so much black smoke when burning.  Not only is the smell unpleasant, it is toxic!
** Check out wikipedia or why paraffin wax is so bad.

  2. 100% Natural (no artificial aroma, no sponge filter).  Our ear candles are loving handmade by mothers/grandmothers using traditional recipe and method.  They do not contain any additives or synthetic sponge-filter (which is a fire hazard).  If you enjoy an aromatic environment while ear candling, please use fragrant aromatic oils that are specifically designed for this purpose!

  3. 100% Lovingly Handmade.  Our ear candles are lovingly handmade in coned shape -  one at a time - by hand.  And in the cone-shaped designed that had been handed down from the generations.  Other products, however, are produced using industrial machines in small, tight, busy factories in the shape of straws (for easier manufacturing!).

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Does Ear Candling hurt?
Absolutely not! It is a painless, harmless and totally relaxing experience. If it weren't for the intermittent crackling and hissing sounds -- due to the burning of the wax and fungus being drawn up the chimney of the candle -- you would never know that anything was happening in your ear.

  2. How long does an Ear Candling session last?
About 20-30 minutes for each session.  Each ear will take about 10-15 mins.

  3. How often should I have Ear Candling done?
Initially, most people need just 2 or 3 candling sessions to get their ears clean... However, some people, may need up to eight (8) sessions over a six month period. Once your ears are clean, personal preference should determine how often you have your ears candled. Once every four (4) to eight (8) weeks would be practical.

  4. Who can benefit from Ear Candling?
Ear candling can benefit almost everyone, from infants to adults. Musicians can benefit - especially singers and horn blowers - who often have a lot more wax build up than other people. People who wear hearing aids can benefit. Also, those people who have had previous ear injuries, can benefit from ear candling as they tend to have a greater build up of wax and fungus.

  5. Who should not have Ear Candling?
Ear Candling should not be done to people who have ear tubes, perforated ear drums, or artificial ear drums.

  6. Where are your ear candles made?
Our candles are handmade in the USA using 100% pure beeswax.

  7. Your candles are made from beeswax while others are made from paraffin, what is the difference?
Beeswax is a 100% natural product unlike paraffin.  The material paraffin is a petroleum by product of crude oil.  House hold names have been given to paraffin, such as candy wax, or food wax. When extracting paraffin from crude oil, a substance known as Methyl Ethyl Keytone (M.E.K.) is used.  Methyl Ethyl Keytone is a high-tech cleaning solvent used in the automotive and aerospace industries to clean parts.  This substance is very lethal to the human body! Always wear protective gear when working with this substance.  There are documents demonstrating that M.E.K and paraffin have been known to create cancer in the genital region, and has created disorders to the central nervous system, as well as the respiratory system. Paraffin emits hydrocarbons into the atmosphere when being burned. This substance is very toxic to the human body. If anyone tells you," a little bit will not harm you", think about the long term effects. It literally will be detrimental to your body. Most chemical employees who work in this substance are retired within ten years of employment. These large chemical companies do not want to be held accountable for the health issues that will result from these toxic products.

  8. Do ear candles really work?
Responses from most users indicate ear candles are effective. There are frequent reports of relief from ear wax build up, ear pain, ear problems, hearing problems, ringing in the ears, sinus problems, headaches, even infection.

  9. Can all of that wax remaining in the unused portion of the ear candle really be from my ear?
No. Some of the wax residue is from the ear candle. By carefully examining the residue, you may be able to distinguish between the ear candle residue and ear wax. The most important thing to notice after ear candling is how good your ears feel!

  10. Is there a medical reason that ear candles should not be used?
They should not be used if the ear drum is perforated or if there are tubes in the ear.

  11. Do ear candles always work?
If ear wax is VERY impacted and has been untreated for a long time, ear candles may not immediately give desired results.  Again, use common sense and ear candling will be a great experience!

  12. I have tried using ear candles but they don't seem to work, since I am finding no wax in the candle after I cut it open. Am I doing something wrong?   You may be doing one of two things. First, you might not have an air-tight connection. There must be NO smoke coming out the bottom. Two, you might have the ear candle jammed up tight against an ear wall - move it SLIGHTLY to another position - eventually you should be able to hear things happening inside your ear.

  13. What is the best kind of ear candle to buy?
It is important to not buy one with too much wax. Also, the fuel balance (the ratio of waxes to fabric) is very important.   The goal is for all the materials to burn at approximately the same rate... this seems to help minimize the powder residue which is created by all ear candles.  At the same time, one must remember we are dealing with natural materials, which, by their very nature, will never be 100% predictable. Our manufacturer has found that the compatibility of the beeswax and paraffin affects the outcome, which is one reason they choose to *not* use the lower grades of paraffin.  Another factor is the size of the opening at the tip. Since the whole concept of coning is to help clear material from the ear, the tip opening should be large enough to minimize the incidence of clogging, but small enough to ensure the "chimney effect", or "drawing power".  For example, a vacuum cleaner hose with a too-large opening will not only have very little suction, it will drop most of the material right back out again... too small, and it will clog with very little material having passed through. We take the utmost care to create a tip opening that strikes a balance between these two scenarios.

  14. What do I do if some of the residue from the ear candle gets in the ear?
In using our ear candles, our manufacturer has, on occasion, seen a very small amount of the powder residue escape from the candle, but has never seen it go any further than the inside edge of the opening of the ear.

Her comments were: "To remove it, I use a Q-Tip moistened with olive oil or similar, and gently touch the powder, which seems to pick it right up, without pushing it further inside. After removing all I can see at the opening, I offer another moistened Q-Tip to the client, with the suggestion to use it in a swirling motion, by rolling it between the fingertips, while inserting it in very small increments.

Also, in an effort to minimize the possibility of powder escaping from the tip, I always remove the candle with a slightly swift but steady motion, and try to avoid shaking it in the process. I believe the "drawing power" is greatly reduced immediately upon breaking the airtight seal between the candle and the ear. Again using the vacuum example, notice the increase and decrease when firmly placing a hand over, then removing it from, the hose opening."

Keep in mind that many in other situations have reported all sorts of things ending up in the ear... dirt, dust, sand, along with small flying insects, etc. The ear naturally works on its own to expel foreign materials.

  15. I have read on the internet that ear candling is a scam. What do you say to this?
I understand that ear candling dates back to at least around 2500 B.C. I also understand from what various websites and people say that it was used by the Hopi Indians, Aztecs, Egyptians, and in India, China, and Tibet. I don't have references for this. If you have a reference for this, I would love to hear from you. Remember, many ancient natural remedies don't cost much, so no one will make a fortune from studying them. And therefore no one will pay for the studies.

Here is what our manufacturer said: "I have drawn my own conclusions though, after many close inspections during the process.  (I'm also aware of others who have the same opinion.) I've noticed that the ear wax doesn't begin accumulating in the lower portion of the candle first (in the area near the tip). Instead, I've *always* noticed that the accumulation begins more toward the large end, midway between the fire and the halfway point of the candle.  Then, it appears that all the materials (ear debris and candle materials) seem to blend together as the burning continues, forming the dark brown wax inside the candle.

It is my opinion this may be why the remains can appear to be identical. But I have noticed, *just as often*, the color of the remains can range from a lighter amber color to a very dark, almost black color, after coning. These distinct differences have occurred when all the candles came from the same 'batch'.  In the end, I've found the most significant factors in deciding if candles do or don't really work are the *amount* of accumulation, as well as an unmistakable sensation of relief. In all instances, the more extreme the situation of the ears, sinuses, hearing, etc., the larger the accumulation has been.  Not once have I ever seen the results deviate from this.

As a reminder, the results I've described will not usually be obtained after just one candle. Generally, using 2 to 4 candles, with one immediately following the other, in the same ear, is required to see the dramatic results. It must also be someone who clearly has a 'clogged' situation. Someone who generally has little-to-no situation of this type will always end up with a mostly clean candle in comparison.

By the way, [laughing], by all scientific accounts, the bumblebee defies the basic laws of aerodynamics and shouldn't be able to fly... "

  16. What about the powder that comes out of the ear candle?
A candle with too much of *any* wax will drip. If the correct amount of wax is applied, the fabric and wax will both burn at the same rate, with no dripping. All wax will produce powder. If there's no powder, it means far too little wax was applied, and the candle is absolutely not air tight.  Any ear candle containing beeswax will produce a larger accumulation of powder residue than plain paraffin. Also, the properties of the beeswax will vary due to whatever the bees are feeding on at the time, which will affect the amount of the powder as well. Stopping a few times to clear the tip with a toothpick and to clear out the candle will reduce the amount of powder to be dealt with.

  17. What else will help ear ache?
Check with your doctor first about this: For myself, I have found that Hydrogen peroxide 3% solution can help, so long as it produces bubbles when put in the ear (use a cotton ball to squeeze it in). The bottle of Hydrogen peroxide I have says it is a "Topical anti-infective" and a "germicide".

  18. Can I do ear candling on my own?
NO. Not under any circumstances. An observer is essential to have proper positioning of the ear candle and for protection.   At the very least, they are essential to make sure you stay awake!
